House of Mystery 6
Redhead pirate Ann Preston. The feared pirate Ann falls for a musician, then is betrayed...Illustrated by Tony Akins of Jack of Fables. The start of a new story arc for HoM.

Back to Brooklyn 1- Jimmy Palmiotti and Garth Ennis in a police/mafia storyline. The artist is a newcomer, and has an unusual style to it.

The weather is in the seventies and sunny here, and my mom is visiting, so we are off to enjoy it!

Food, Rides, Carnival games

The carnival opened last night a few blocks from us. The weather was supposed to be severe rain, L&T, even hail...so when the wind kicked up we left. Did get to have some carnival food with mom and shoreturtle. Tonight is fireworks night so we are going back.

Tomorrow night is REM! The weather has cooled into the upper 70s so hopefully it will be a nice outdoor show. Will be great to see the new Accelerate songs performed.

As far as comics, I read House of Mystery #2- still really enjoying the art and concept.

Trinity 1 and 2- hey I'm caught up on a weekly series! So far, so good. I like the focus on the big three and how they have different reactions. Batman sees criminality, Wonder Woman an oracle force. The backstory with Green Lantern and the purple Konvict was full of action and little barbs..Trinity 3 this week!

Hope those of you in the Buffyverse read Buffy Season 8: #15.
There is a giant robot Dawn, Willow's magic, Dracula joining forces against vampires in Japan, Andrew's jokes...

Philly Wizard

Taking the train into to Wizard World Philly today. I grabbed my sketchbook, and a few 52's in case I get to artist J.G. Jones, Moon Knight for Finch, and some flyers for the MidJersey Comicon. With all that is going on with work and family, I haven't planned for the con like I usually do. Plus, the Wizard web site was not real friendly to let you know what was happening- just found the guest list, but no artist alley list, and no program list.

Anyway, I may be sending some camphone photos from the con.

Have you picked up Vertigo's House of Mystery 1 (sneak peak available)? This image is from a side story by Bill Willingham - The Hollows?. I never read HoM, but I know it has a long comic history and figured this was the place to jump in. I like the art and initial storytelling.
