sinus infection plus heat wave

A dreaded and common sinus infection has hit me. The Z pack is kicking in, but I'm still worn out.

Still reading the Tales from the Starlight Drive-in GN.
(From Badger Comics: Writer MIKE SAN GIACOMO presents 32 stories taking place over 50 years at a Drive-In Theater, featuring 21 artists from around the world. Stories stand-alone, mirroring life and the cinema with tales of crime, romance, science fiction, musicals, even a western. The stories combine to create a single novel with a powerful, shocking finale you won't forget. Fascinating characters, imaginative stories and clever twists will make STARLIGHT the surprise hit of the year.)

Need to go to my LCBS to get 3 weeks of comics. I didn't pick up many new comics at Wizard. I think I bought 2 indy comics and the Tales.

A heat wave is coming tomorrow- and only 5 of 8 compressors work at my library- leaving the entire Reference section with no air. It's been like this for years, and I always dread summer because of it. So it will be around upper 80s at my desk, perfect for being ill.

A couple new blogs have emailed me about being part of the Comic Book Legion--

CBL lives!

The domain for the Comic Blog Legion has been renewed! Sorry if you noticed it was not working. Please link to the CBL if you haven't, and always send email for new blogs to midnjcomic@gmail.com.

I watched Carrie last night on TV. Tonight I am dressing as Carrie and going out with PhillyGirl and Shoreturtle for Halloween to a big club where the main costume is Slutty ____ (Cop, Nurse, etc). But then there are creative and decent costumes.

I noticed these things in Carrie, being America in the 70s, that would NEVER happen today-
  • The gym teacher was smoking in the principal's office.
  • He had an ashtray on his desk.
  • Travolta and friends were drinking beers in their cars (he did try to hide that from the cop)
  • Some prom dresses had long sleeves and a high collar (now 3 napkins are the avg. prom dress fabric)
  • Tommy wore a tux with blue ruffles
  • They mentioned you could get a tux for $10
  • Tommy drove a red truck, but then drove his parents car to pick her up. Now every kid has their own new car at 17 (driving age in Jersey) and never has to borrow the car keys.
  • Carrie was using the card catalog (although she was in 231s, religion, and telekinesis is in the 100s)

Spi-Dog

Spi-Dog in the New 2007 Toy Fare preview
Just put in this week's comic order, and it's a paltry 3 titles. It's actually nice to have a break on both the brain and wallet. I'm sure I'll come home with stacks from the New York con to be snowed under!

I want to promote the Comic Blog Legion. I hand code all the bloggity goodness there; please comment or email me if there is blog you have or know of that should join our legion!

There is a new Comic Weblog from Tales from the Long Box. I just asked for RF to be added to get the latest from me...

Read Loren's post on I didn't think it was possible to make Power Girl's boobs bigger!. And Batgirl gets the Power Girl and Catwoman ridiculous proportions too. How can she work in the library- those things need their own shelving cart!
