Happy 4th Americans!

Well, that holiday went fast! I haven't felt good about America during this administration, but there it is. We watched some fireworks at the college last night, a good 30 minutes in our small town. Today, I got up early on my day off, still recovering from the sinus infection, and ran a 5K. Shoreturtle, J and his son, and I ran the Revolutionary Run in Washington Crossing, PA. Good course along the canal, well organized. More people ran the 10K, but I ran the whole time and once again had a burst at the end to come in strong!

4 agents came in 5 days came to look at our house. Just trying to put away my clothes and put the glasses in the dishwasher, plus having to book out of here if there is a call. Fingers crossed!

I got Preacher 4 and 5 now that PhillyGirl got me reading P. The kid at B&N said, uh, these are the same when I went to pick them up. Different volumes I piped up.

Another new comic Wednesday! I'm still reading a few from last week: Dynamo 5, She-Hulk, and picked up a local writer with a comic called Philly.

The programming schedule for Wizard has been posted, but I haven't reviewed it. DC announced a Countdown panel, a Vertigo panel (always love those), and Marvel has the normal Cup o' Joe. I believe there is going to be a Bendis interviews Quesada session, so might go to that sideshow.

Work has been sort of annoying, plus the library temperature is around 80 which makes me headachy/overheated by the end of the day. I haven't been running this week, just vegging with the new digital cable, and watching PhillyGirl's Weeds: Season 1.

Rex Libris 8 review-- More than just librarians should be reading this!
Nearly every page features Rex tackling monsters, from Nazi Zombies to giant alien lice, side stepping Nosferatu and Pod People on the trail of Beowulf’s Grendel (scamming the Omega Man’s ride along the way). And if the story isn’t following Rex sticking it to some human-brain operated robot, then back at the library, the other librarians Hypatia and Circe are slashing and shooting their way through some meme manifestations panel after panel after panel

PrivateEye- my librarian coworker went to a session on searching for personal information, and this site has interesting results. You might see your name, different places you lives, and who your possible relatives and roommates are. Find family, neighbors, friends!

Zabasearch- this site returns phone numbers, addresses, and makes a map to your house. Also, some results give birth month and year.

With mom visiting, I am again about 2.5 weeks behind in comics. I read DMZ No. 18, and I have to say that I did not like the art of Nathan Fox. Faces are really exaggerated teeth and ugly lines. Mostly I think it's the mix of Ricardo Burchelli's art, gritty and realistic compared to the Fox art. The story of a young soldier caught in the DMZ and now on a 'show trial' after a massacre does add a level of compassion for the pressures of being a soldier. Started reading the She-Hulk, where Shulkie and Tony Stark, have a 'private meeting'...

Actually getting back to reading some comics. A week behind on 52, but just read the big Dibny issue. He's not dead, dead, right? I have a lot of my regular pull list comics, and a few new ones I picked up in NY, and the Virgin Comics collected editions B insists I try.

Rereading The Watchmen. At NYCC we met up with Crimson Rabbit, who is a dedicated Lost fan and wrote this post Lost=Watchmen on The Fuselage (where phillygirl spends a lot of time!)

Mike Oeming's The Mice Templar is coming out this summer, a project he has talked about for years. The inevitable comparison to Mouse Guard comes up, with a 'good vibe' for both
"Templar I think is the opposite: it's more menace and danger with undercurrents of sweetness."

Also Oeming's Omega Flight is solicited as a mini-series, rather than an ongoing series. I understand Marvel's move as the Flight books have never performed well in the past and it has always been a cult book.
